Artist Spotlight – Phil Vassar

September 13, 2011

Phil Vassar debuted on the country scene as a songwriter in the late 1990’s. He wrote for artists that include Jo Dee Messina, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, and Neal McCoy. Handful of the songs became number ones and earned him the title of American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers’s (ASCAP) Songwriter of the Year in 1999.

In late 1999, Vassar was signed to Arista Nashville and began recording music. “Charlene” was the debut single of his self-titled album and peaked at #5 on the Billboard Country Charts. Follow up single, “Just Another Day in Paradise,” gave Vassar his first number one song. The album became Gold Certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Vassar went on to release 4 more albums and is currently signed to Rodeowave Entertainment for a sixth album and the single “Lets Get Together.”
